CELEBRATE THE ROSE WINDOW, Dancing in York Minster, 23 January 2010.

Over 80 dancers from all over the Yorkshire region, gathered in the North Transept of York Minster to enjoy dancing to live music from Best Foot. The event celebrated the famous Rose Window, with dances relating to the symbolism of the Rose. It was a very memorable and special evening. Many thanks to all the Dean and Chapter of York Minster for allowing us to dance there. Huge thanks to the band and singers! and to the many local circle dancers who helped with ticket and donation collections and support teaching. I couldn't do this without you!

CIRCLE DANCE IN YOUR GARDEN, SUNDAY 23 AUGUST  -----A Fundraising event for the Community Circle Dance Association in York.

Over 20 circle dancers from in and around York joined in this very successful day. We raised over £380 for the CCDA and had a wonderful day together, dancing in 5 different gardens, enjoying home-made ice cream, smoothies, lunches, jams and very welcome tea and cakes at the end of the day. Thanks to everyone who made this day such a great success and even greater thanks to the Elements, who allowed us a day which was perfect for dancing!

As one dancer said, 'What a wonderful day! Beautiful gardens, great dances and superb company. What more do we need?'

David Roberts returned to York in April 2009

This weekend was even more wonderful than last year! David was joined by his wife, Zoe who was a delight and welcome addition to learn from and dance with. Comments about the weekend included:

A thoroughly enjoyable weekend. I would not change anything.

I enjoyed having both Zoe and David teaching and the emphasis on masculine, feminine qualities in dances.

Excellent weekend. Good variety of dance styles from the Balkans. Good to have CD, notes and DVD option! Liked the relaxed style and the humour, friendliness.

I enjoyed the different approaches to teaching and consequently the different ways in which I (we) learn dances. It was a joy and new experience to know dances with my feet and body, rather than my head - thank you for such a happy and fun-filled weekend.

Musicport - World Music Festival, Bridlington October 2008

I was invited to lead a workshop for dancing to the wonderful Bulgarian clarinetist, Ivo Papasov, and his Bulgarian Wedding Band. Over 70 people attended the workshop with well over 200 people participating in probably the largest circle dance I have ever led! The Bridlington Spa was a marvelous venue and at last I was able to fulfill a long held dream....to lead circle dance at Musicport where everyone was joining in.

The band struck up the music, the wedding party joined us and we danced on to the delight of dancers and musicians.
